Pulteney Hosts International Reggio Emilia Exhibition

Pulteney Grammar School is proud to be the host venue for the Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material exhibition – an internationally celebrated atelier-style experience presented by Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE) in collaboration with Reggio Children, Italy.

Running over a fortnight in July, the exhibition brings more than 800 guests from across Australia and around the world through the gates of Pulteney. It marks the first time this acclaimed exhibition has been shown in Australia and provides an immersive exploration of the expressive languages of children through drawing, narrative and material.

The exhibition is housed within Pulteney’s Centre for Senior Learning and Atelier space in the Cambrell Building – a beautifully repurposed industrial precinct that mirrors the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, whose own International Centre is based in a former parmesan factory. This connection is more than symbolic; it reflects shared values of creativity, community, and the power of place in shaping meaningful educational experiences.

Pulteney’s involvement follows the recent educational tour to Reggio Emilia, Italy, undertaken by Head of Early Childhood Education and Care, Ali Blake, and Head of Junior Years, Jason Fay. Their visit sparked a deepened partnership between the School and REAIE, ultimately supporting Adelaide’s successful bid to host the exhibition.

The official opening saw guests welcomed by Principal Greg Atterton and included representatives from the Office for Early Childhood Development, the Italian Consulate, and our honoured visitors from Reggio Emilia: pedagogista Elena Maccaferri and atelierista Consuelo Damasi.

The School wishes to acknowledge the efforts of Ali Blake and the Pulteney staff involved in supporting the exhibition, including members of the ELC and Property and Facilities teams, and creative contributions from Lauren Sutter and Greta Gramazio.

“This is a proud and significant moment for Pulteney,” said Principal Greg Atterton. “To see our school serve as the backdrop for such a globally recognised exhibition speaks to the innovation and educational leadership within our community.”

Free guided sessions are available throughout the exhibition period for those wishing to attend. Bookings are essential and can be made via the Mosaic of Marks Exhibition page.
