Appointment of Director of Teaching and Learning – Nadia Maglica

Congratulations to Nadia Maglica on her appointment as Director of Teaching and Learning.

This appointment follows a highly competitive recruitment process that attracted a strong field of exceptional candidates from both South Australia and interstate. Nadia was the standout applicant, offering a rare combination of educational expertise, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the Pulteney community.
Nadia has been a valued member of Pulteney since 2016, serving in several senior leadership roles including Head of Department – Science, SACE Coordinator, and most recently, Acting Director of Teaching and Learning. Her experience spans both curriculum and pastoral domains, and she is known for her clarity of purpose, data-informed decision-making, and unwavering commitment to student outcomes.

In her time as Acting Director of Teaching and Learning, Nadia has already led several high-impact initiatives across the School. These include the successful implementation of ACARA Version 9, the introduction of new SACE and VET pathways, and the refinement of curriculum documentation and assessment practices from ELC to Year 12. She has also overseen the rollout of new technologies, including digital learning tools and inclusive education platforms that support differentiated, student-centred learning.

A key focus of Nadia’s leadership is the raising of academic standards and the strengthening of academic rigour across all year levels. Her work has emphasised the importance of consistent, high-quality teaching, aligned scope and sequence planning, and the development of a culture of continuous improvement. Through the leadership of the Teaching and Learning Committee and collaboration with sub-school leaders, she has introduced benchmarks and review processes that drive accountability, support teacher growth, and ensure students are challenged to achieve their full potential.

Staff have already reported a positive shift in teaching practices and curriculum clarity, with internal feedback confirming strong engagement in the whole-school professional learning programs Nadia has designed and delivered. These have helped embed a shared language around excellence in teaching and foster a stronger connection between curriculum, wellbeing, and learner agency.

Looking ahead, Nadia will lead the development of a bold, multi-year professional learning and academic strategy grounded in four pillars: curriculum, pedagogy, innovation, and sustainable wellbeing. She will continue to champion academic excellence by aligning classroom practice with national reform, global educational trends, and the school’s commitment to holistic student development.

We are excited about the future of teaching and learning at Pulteney under Nadia’s leadership and congratulate her on this well-earned appointment.
