Welcome to the 2025 school year, from Principal Mr Greg Atterton

There is a wonderful sense of excitement and anticipation that comes with the start of a new school year. I have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming our students and families as they’ve arrived at the South Terrace gates and the opportunity it has brought to reconnect with our community or introduce myself to students and parents joining our school for the first time. Returning to Pulteney, I have been deeply humbled by the heartfelt support, warm welcome and kind words I have received. For this I am very grateful.
Pulteney is a wonderful school because you immediately appreciate the strong sense of community that exists here. The high value staff and students place on relationships and the importance of academic rigour that serves to challenge our students to give of their best as they pursue their interests.
Pulteney has always been known for its commitment to personalised learning, where every student is truly seen, known, understood and valued. This focus will remain central to everything we do.
We are a school dedicated to academic excellence and the wellbeing of every student. From the classroom to administration and the broader school community, I am passionate about fostering a strong sense of connection and belonging for everyone.
My vision is for Pulteney to be a place where differences are embraced and celebrated, underpinned by a shared dedication to high-quality education. A school community that is optimistic, accountable and embraces our rich history and location in the heart of Adelaide.
Our students have incredible opportunities to engage with their learning in a variety of ways as we maximise our location through partnerships with local businesses, technology precincts and tertiary institutions in the CBD.
The pursuit of innovation and continuous improvement is at the heart of what we do. At Pulteney, we welcome evidence-based practices that inspire creativity and push boundaries.
My hope is to nurture students who are not only independent, resilient, and compassionate but also well-rounded, creative leaders ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow. Students who are prepared for life beyond school and driven to make meaningful contributions as global citizens.
I am especially proud to lead a school that instils a deep sense of purpose and community in its students, ensuring they understand their privileges and have a heart for others.
You will see me out and about. I will be in classrooms, at school events and co-curricular activities as I am keen to know what is happening in our school and celebrate the wonderful teaching and learning that is taking place.
I warmly welcome all students, parents and staff as we embark on this exciting new school year. I look forward to seeing you at the school gate and throughout our shared journey at South Terrace.
