Strategic Plan and Master Plan
A Message to the Pulteney Community
We are very pleased and excited to advise the entire Pulteney Grammar School community of significant developments in the delivery of our Strategic Plan, relating to our fourth strategic priority “An innovative and integrated learning environment”.
We are pleased to release the School’s Facilities Master Plan, outlining our intent to develop the campus, on both sides of South Terrace, over coming years. To see and hear our thinking behind the Master Plan, please take a few minutes to watch the video here.
As you will see in the video, the first priority in the delivery of the Master Plan is a new Middle School.
The Board has approved this project to begin construction in early 2017, to open our new facility in mid-2018. It promises to be one of the most amazing learning spaces in the Adelaide market, will be a huge boost to our community and the learning of our middle school students.
The new facility will be built on the site of the current Memorial Building (currently housing the Senior Library, classrooms, Archives and some eServices infrastructure). We intend to demolish this building during the Christmas holidays, ensuring that the site is cleared at a time when students and staff are not in attendance.
During construction of the new facility, we will use some modular classrooms on the school site. While this might create some initial concern, we can assure all students, staff and parents, that these learning spaces will be spacious and well equipped. No learning will be compromised while we take this massive step forward in the evolution of our School. The School’s leaders will finalise timetables and room allocations and further communication will occur on this. All necessary planning approvals are currently being finalised.
Exciting Land Acquisition
Finally, we are pleased to announce that the two cottages at the end of Osmond Street, and the derelict house in Symonds Place, are now in the ownership of the School. This gives maximum flexibility to the medium and long term plans for our site, and also enables us to immediately improve the safety of the site. We now own all land parcels within the School’s boundaries. This is a great step in enabling the future of the School.
We look forward to sharing further information with you about our exciting new Middle School, as well as other components of our Master Plan.
Greg Keene Anne Dunstan
Board Chair Principal
This Plan is the culmination of a great deal of valuable consultation with all members of our community. As a Board, we are the custodian of the School’s strategic directions. This Plan will guide the Board’s work for the years to come. The direction and challenge it sets is an exciting one.
