Year 12 SACE Stage 2 Drama Performance

On Wednesday last week, the SACE Stage 2 Drama class presented the opening night of their four-night season of the production, ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ written by Tom Wright (based on Joan Lindsay’s novel) and adapted for the stage by our own Jamie Hibbert.

Once again, I am so thrilled with the quality of work the Year 12 Drama class produces. The standard of production (costumes, lighting, sound, staging) was simply wonderful. The Bakehouse Theatre is a small venue where every audience member can literally feel the actor delivering their character. This year’s class: Jordan Bender, Emma Bertozzi, Kahlia Gilbert, Zach Haarsma, Abby McDougall and Sanjana Saim, were simply wonderful. Reflecting on these student’s growth since I first met them in 2017 has been nothing short of transformative. This is due to the work these students had done, the passion they have drawn from, the commitment and diligence they have used. I am just so excited to see these students grow so much and deliver such a high standard production.

I also have great pleasure in thanking Jamie Hibbert, for not only adapting the play to work for our students but also for stretching and challenging our students to be their best, to really use their passion and to strive to achieve. I know Jamie puts in a huge amount of work for and with these students beyond a normal expectation, and I thank her for this as do the students.

I also reflect on how fortunate we are here in South Australia to be in a position where with some audience contestants, we can support and deliver these live performances. Long may this continue, so our students can get the most out of their time here at Pulteney and prepare themselves or the years ahead. So, congratulations to Jamie and our Year 12 drama class. You have made everyone here at Pulteney so proud. Enjoy this moment.

ABODA Filming

The ABODA SA School Band and Orchestra Festival will be completely online this year, with each ensemble submitting a video recording for adjudication. Please note the recording times in the event listing above, noting that some of these times have changed. Students will need to wear formal uniform for recording.

Year 5 Music Morning Expos

The Year 5 Music class will perform in a Morning Expo on Friday 11 September. Please refer to the Prep School section of the Pulteney Review for further information.

Dance Concert: Saturday 12 September

The 2020 Dance Concert will be held in Wyatt Hall on Saturday 12 September. Rehearsals will be held in the afternoon. For a rehearsal schedule and other details, please read the information here

Costume details are provided in the images below.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the number of performers and audience members will be more limited than previous years, with each family limited to two tickets. Kurrajong performers will be seated with their family during the performance. Performing students do not require a ticket and will not be counted in their family’s allocation of tickets. Tickets will not be available at the door, so please book early. Tickets may be purchased at TryBooking for $10 adults and free for non-performing students.

Ensemble Music Concert

We are thrilled to be able to invite our students to perform in the upcoming Ensemble Music Concert, which will take place on Saturday 19 September in Wyatt Hall. We will have two concerts on the same day, one at 5.00 to 6.00pm for our Kurrajong and Prep School students, and the other at 6.30 to 8.15pm for our Middle School and one ninety students.

For full information regarding the Kurrajong and Prep School concert, please click here. Please also complete the online consent form by Friday 11 September.

For full information regarding the Middle School and one ninety concert, please click here. Please also complete the online consent form by Friday 11 September.

Due to COVID-19 requirements, families will only be able to attend the concert in which their child is performing, and we are strictly limited to two tickets per family. Tickets are $10 for adult, and free for non-performing students and are available on Trybooking. Tickets will not be available at the door, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Performing students do not require a ticket and will not be counted in their family’s allocation of tickets. If you have children performing in both concerts, you will need to book tickets for both, but this will still only cost $10 per adult ticket. All audience members will be asked to leave the Hall between concerts so that we are able to clean.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Friends of Performing Arts committee to fund special events and purchases throughout the year. We really hope 2021 brings us a return to larger audience sizes, both at school and in the wider community, and thank you for your understanding with the current limitations.
