Conservation Corps and Venture Club Extended Program – October School break

We are delighted to offer a uniquely crafted conservation, service and adventure focused program to Kangaroo Island from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 10 October. The program is open to years 7 to 12 students and will be conducted in partnership with the Department of Environment and Water, Hanson Bay Sanctuary and Legacy. The program is designed to give an insight into Kangaroo Island, the impacts of bushfires and the road to recovery. Through conservation, service and immersion activities, students will be able to contribute to the local community, whilst appreciating and experiencing the unique natural environment.

The program will include initiatives such as tree planting, trail clearing, fence repair, local fauna and flora rehabilitation, garden bed building and planting and service to local residents. It includes some adventure activities such as hiking, rock scrambling, sand dune climbing and coastal exploration. We will visit local tourist attractions and contribute to the economy on Kangaroo Island by purchasing local products where possible.

Students have been engaged in the planning of the program, and there will be some choice in the activities they participate in through the final stages of planning. Meetings in the next three weeks will be asked of interested students, to ensure the program is tailored to student interest.

Please register your child’s interest in the program through the link here and we will make contact with further details. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Daniel Polkinghorne via email daniel.polkinghorne@pulteney.sa.edu.au.
