Gig at the Gov: Tuesday 25 August

I am happy to confirm that the annual Gig @ the Gov concert is going ahead in Week 6 this term. The following groups will perform: Stage Band 1 and Stage Band 2, Jazz on the Terrace, Year 10, 11 and 12 Music class bands, Year 12 Rock Band, plus selected Year 12 vocal solos.

Students will attend sound checks in the afternoon, with the Year 9 Sound Engineering class joining them to observe. Please complete the online consent form. Full details, including a schedule for the day, dress code etc are available here.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the number of performers and audience members will be more limited than previous years. Families will be seated at separate tables, and performers will be seated at their family’s table during the performance. Performing students will not be counted in their family’s allocation of tickets.

Tickets must be purchased on TryBooking by Tuesday 18 August, 5.00pm to allow time for The Gov and the Performing Arts faculty to make final seating arrangements based on restrictions. Tickets will not be available at the door.  Thank you for your understanding.

We really appreciate the support of The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel team for their support of our school community and facilitating this event.

Dance 2021

Dance at Pulteney is growing quickly! This year we introduced Year 9 Dance as an elective subject (in Semester 1), SACE Stage 1 Dance (20-unit subject) and our three co-curricular dance classes became four.

In 2021, we are hoping to offer the Year 9 Dance elective in both first and second semester and adding SACE Stage 2 Dance as well as Stage 1. These classes are likely to be offered offline with lessons outside the normal timetable. Further, we are working on how we can integrate dance more substantially into the Prep curriculum as a replacement to the short Dancify programs currently offered.

I am very excited about the possibilities of dance here at Pulteney, and I am currently working on plans for 2022!

If you have any questions about the dance subjects on offer in 2021 please do not hesitate to contact me at Jonathon.rice@pulteney.sa.edu.au

Year 9 Sound Engineering excursions

As mentioned in the Pulteney Review last week, we are pleased to offer several excursions for our Year 9 Sound Engineering class to professional venues around the city. Our first excursion is a private tour of the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Other excursions to follow are:

Tuesday 25 August 12.00pm – 3.30pm, Gig @ the Gov sound check (afternoon only)

Wednesday 26 August 1.00pm – 3.30pm, Her Majesty’s Theatre tour

For the excursions above, students should bring lunch and a drink. There will be no opportunity to purchase lunch on these days. Later this term we are also hoping to do a tour of the tertiary institution, SAE, where we will see all their facilities including their recording studios. More details to come later.

Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone and Tuba – PLAYERS WANTED!
