Healthy Minds Parent Information Evening

Last Thursday evening Dr Tom Nehmy presented to parents of Year 8 students his preventative psychology program Healthy Minds. All Year 8 students in their wellbeing lessons will be undertaking the Healthy Minds program this term.

The program will begin each week with a 20 minute session from Dr Catherine Johnson from the Healthy Minds team. Our Year 8 wellbeing teachers, who have all been trained in the Healthy Minds program will follow up with activities to add meaning, relevance and understanding to what was presented.

Click HERE to view the  handout titled ‘Healthy Minds Take Away Messages’ that outlines the 7 secrets to a healthy mind that were explained to parents on the evening and will be presented, in an age appropriate means, to our students throughout the term.

Dr Nehmy is very keen for parents to engage with their children about the program and will be sending home a weekly communication that will directly connect with the discussions had with students completing the program.

We certainly hope students and parents will engage with the Healthy Minds program and find it most interesting and valuable.

House Coffee Mornings

Also available for view HERE are the flyers for the House Coffee mornings that are to occur on the week beginning August 10.

Each House has a designated morning and from 8am parents are invited to join their child’s Head of House and Tutor for a free coffee. It is a great opportunity for parents to meet and connect with other parents. I hope many of you can make it.

Hard copies of the flyers will be given to students to take home.
