Pulteney’s Peace Time Armour

On the first day of Term 3, our school community gathered for an Assembly. This was a special occasion where we acknowledged our student’s achievements and offered prayers for the term. During this Assembly, our school bible reading was read. Our bible reading speaks of preparing to go into battle and putting on God’s armour as a way to help us to speak the truth, stand up for the oppressed, offer peace to those in need and rely on God’s presence for guidance and support. To incorporate the relevance of this reading, our school leaders shared some ‘peacetime armour’ with the Pulteney community to remind us of how we can rely on God and be God’s loving presence in our world today.

Below is a copy of our school bible reading and the script that was read by our school leaders.

Let the strength of God make you strong. Put on all the armour that God gives, Let the truth be like a belt around your waist, and let God’s justice protect you like armour. Your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like shoes on your feet. Let your faith be like a shield, let God’s power be like a helmet, and for protection use God’s message that comes from the Spirit. Finally, never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray in the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God’s people, that we will be brave and speak the truth.

Receive this dumbbell as a reminder that God can make you strong.

Receive this textbook which encourages you to search for the truth.

Wear this wig and to remind you to stand up for the oppressed.

Use this Dove hand cream so that you can bring peace and comfort to those in need.

Wear this cross to remind you of the Christian faith and Jesus’ teachings.

To remind you that everything is possible when you trust and believe in the power of God wear this Port Power scarf.

For protection and as a reminder to pray for others wear this blazer with pride and regularly refer to our Pulteney motto ‘O prosper thy handiwork, O prosper thy handiwork.’

And finally, put on this superhero’s cape so that your acts of bravery by simply trying to become all that you can be will be seen and recognised by others which in turn will inspire others to become all that they can be.

May God’s strength, truth, justice, peace, power and protection be with you this term and may your faith in God and the power of prayer empower, sustain and uphold you this term.

Blessings for the term.
