Sports Day

Parents and friends are invited to join our middle and senior school students as they compete for House glory in our revamped program.  Such was the success of last year’s introduction of the ‘In It to Win It’ program that we have expanded the range of activities in which students can represent their house, be physically active and not least have fun in a more relaxed and participatory atmosphere.  Our traditional and highly competitive ‘Championship’ program will run as normal, and no doubt we will witness some amazing athletics performance, complete with records being broken.

This is a compulsory event for all students, Years 7 to 12 and all students are encouraged to participate in either the ‘Championship’ program (if selected) or the ‘In It to Win It’ program – there are multiple events that suit everyone.

Students must arrive at their House area (tent) by 8.30am, where the roll will be taken.

Sports Day starts at 8.50am with a short ceremony including prayer, reading of the Olympic Oath and singing of the National Anthem.  For the duration of the day, students are not permitted to leave the Parklands without permission from a Head of House.  There is easy access to toilets throughout the day on The Parklands.

Students are to wear their house shirts, Pulteney sport shorts and white socks.  Appropriate footwear must be worn during all events and spikes can be borrowed from the Sports Department.  We ask that students approach Sports Department staff before Sports Day and not on the day if they wish to do this.   Hats are compulsory and must be worn.  Students are encouraged to apply sunscreen before arriving at Sports Day and to apply regularly throughout the day from supplies in their House area.  Students may also wish to apply coloured zinc and colour their hair in their House colours.  We do ask that this is completed at home and not brought to the event.

It is also recommended that students bring two water bottles (water will be available in House areas), recess, lunch and a cool bag to store them.  There will be no access to the canteen during the day.  Food and beverages will though be available during the day courtesy of Friends of Pulteney.

The parent, family and friend’s spectator and hospitality tent will this year be set up near the track finish line track offering an up-close view of the action.

A program for the day can be found here.

We look forward to what promises to be another fantastic day of competition.
