2017 Australian Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO)

This competition is held in August every year and is for students up to Year 10. Students are given 4 hours to complete 10 questions. It is a very difficult and challenging competition. This year only 2251 of the very best students from 224 schools around Australia participated. This year we invited 7 of our students from Years 9 and 10 to attempt the paper.

From 2000 until 2016 we have had just 7 students achieve Distinctions in this competition. I am delighted to announce that this year five of our students achieved Distinctions, placing them in the top 25% of students who competed. This is an outstanding achievement. We congratulate each of these students.

Year 10          Zach Nicholls, William Craddock, Dyllan Zhang

Year 9             James Burgess, William Rooke.

Unfortunately, their certificates did not arrive in time for the last assembly before our Year 10 students left for their examinations. They will be presented with their certificates when they arrive.

In particular, congratulations to Zach and James who have followed up their success from 2016 when they achieved Credits.
