Remembrance Day

10th November 2016

Pulteney’s observance of Remembrance Day is one of the most moving and significant events in our School calendar. On Friday the 11th at 10.15 am, more than 1200 members of the Pulteney community will gather in the quadrangle to honour all who have served our nation in conflict. We particularly recognise the military service of more than 1000 Old Scholars of Pulteney and Queens. A field of 192 crosses will be installed on the Nicholls Wing lawn on South Terrace. Each cross carries the name of an Old Scholar who paid the supreme sacrifice as a result of conflicts, between the Boer War and Afghanistan. The crosses provide a stark reminder of the impact that war has had on our School. A highlight of this years’ service, will be the provision of a Catafalque party, by the Royal Australian Air Force Squadrons from RAAF Base, Edinburgh.

We extend a warm invitation to parents, grandparents and Old Scholars, to join us for the service. The guest speaker at this year’s lunch will be Pulteney parent, Colonel Susan Neuhaus CSC (Ret). We encourage the wearing of decorations and medals by Veterans or next of kin.
