Pulteney Grammar School

Principal's Message

Welcome to Pulteney, a co-educational, Anglican school in the city of Adelaide.

I hope your visit is enjoyable and informative.

Pulteney has been described by some as Adelaide’s most contemporary and forward looking school. Not bad for a school that is over 160 years old!

We have made some major changes in recent years and are very proud of what we have achieved. Pulteney is a school which abounds in optimism and enthusiasm. There is a sense of purpose and direction seldom found in schools. It is a busy place with a wonderful sense of community. We want parents, families and friends to feel welcome, and to be partners in the education of the children and young adults in our care. The diversity of our community is a testament to our broad community appeal. As a school with a non selective entry policy, we welcome families with all sorts of backgrounds – from all over Adelaide and the world; from a variety of religious and ethnic backgrounds; and from all sorts of employment and economic experiences.

Our focus on building positive and meaningful relationships and on providing high quality teaching and learning experiences, creates a wonderful educational environment. Our success in recent years is owed to, and is measured against, these two fundamental purposes.

Pulteney unashamedly is a literacy focus school. From early learning to tertiary entrance, our aim is to build those literacies which generate success at school and in life after school. As these literacies develop through Kurrajong, the Prep, the Middle School and into one ninety, the focus sharpens on preparing for university. Almost every Pulteney student aims at tertiary studies and so we do all we can to support them, not only to get in, but also to survive once they are there.

The Pulteney experience is rich and rewarding – academically, socially, culturally and through a broad co-curricular programme. It is an experience that more in Adelaide are seeking.

Enjoy your visit!
